Reach and Row for Hospice 2019

Sequim Bay Yacht Club is sponsoring the 27th annual "Reach and Row for Hospice" races on Sept 28 and 29, 2019. The event raises funds that are earmarked for respite care for family members of Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC) patients. The race last year raised $31,114.32, bringing the total contribution amount to $360,026.80 over the past 26 years.

Updated 2019 Info:

As of October 1, the overall total 2019 contribution is $20,398.73.

Some of the main contributors were Sailboat: $9,770, Rowing: $2,022, Experience Raffle: $4,409, Quilt raffle: $230, T-shirts: $2718.

Quilt tickets will be available until December and checks will continue to come in.

This year you can watch action on the water for two days instead of just one! This change will allow more participation by SBYC members in both events. Come down to Sequim Bay to watch the competition from the numerous vantage points at the John Wayne Marina. The sailboat races are scheduled to begin around noon on Saturday, Sept 28th and will conclude around 4pm. The rowing competition will start around 9AM on Sunday, September 29th and be finished by 11AM.

The event this year is being dedicated to RAdm Bob and Gunvor McClinton, who both recently died. Since the first race, the two of them are credited for raising over $100,000 in contributions for Volunteer Hospice.  KSQM 91.5 FM was fortunate to have RAdm McClinton as a frequent on-air guest to learn more about his military experience, positive outlook on life, passion for sailing and never-ending support of Volunteer Hospice. The public is welcome to watch the racing competition from various vantage points at Sequim's picturesque John Wayne Marina on September 28th and 29th.
