2025 Reach and Row for Hospice
Each year Sequim Bay Yacht Club sponsors “Reach and Row for Hospice”, our major fundraiser for Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County. This year the event will be held on two weekends in September with races for sailors, rowers and paddlers, raising funds specifically earmarked for respite care for family members of VHOCC patients. First held in 1991, our SBYC contributions to date are well over $510,000.
The action kicks off early Saturday morning, Sept. 13, with rowing and paddling competition. This 9 a.m. race is open to all craft powered with oars or paddles: rowboats, kayaks, paddleboards, inflatables and shells. For registration information click the button above.
Sailboat races begin at noon on Saturday, Sept. 20. Boats of any size are welcome! Registration starts at 9:30 with a skippers' meeting at 10:30. Click here for more information.
Not a Boater? Join in Anyway!!
Even if you won’t be on the water for these races, you can support this Sequim Bay Yacht Club benefit for VHOCC by:
Join us at John Wayne Marina to watch the competition! Watch the boats launch early Saturday Sept. 13, from Mud Bay, across from the camping area. Bring a picnic! Come back Saturday, Sept. 20, at noon to watch the sailboats parade out of the marina for the “Reach” competition. From Pitship Point you can watch the entire race. Bring another picnic!
Make a donation in support of your favorite racer! Please make checks payable to VHOCC with your racer’s or boat name in the memo line. Checks can be turned in the 13th at the rowers’ registration table, or the 20th in the SBYC clubroom for your sailboat choice. Then go cheer them on!!
Send a check directly to VHOCC, 829 East 8th Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362. Put “Reach and Row for Hospice” in the memo line so your tax-deductible contribution specifically supports the respite care fund. You will receive a receipt for your donation and have assurance that you are supporting this community-focused organization. www.vhocc.org.
