Despite pouring rain for our registration at 6:30 on Sunday morning, we had enthusiastic turnout and fabulous contributions to the "row" portion of Sequim Bay Yacht Club's 27th fundraiser for Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.

Eighteen craft---rowing shells, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards ---competed in 14 categories in the Sept. 29 race that was the finale to the Sequim Bay Yacht Club's 27th fundraiser for Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County. The race attracted 34 rowers: 12 from Sequim, one from Port Angeles and 21 from Port Townsend. Overall winners were Sandra Wanstall of Port Townsend, first; Alan Clark, Sequim, second; Charley Kanienski, Port Townsend, third; and Tuf As Nails, fourth. SBYC, which has raised more than $360,000 for VHOCC in the past quarter century, continues its fundraising through Dec. 31. Contributions can be sent directly to VHOCC, 829 East 8th Street, Port Angeles WA 98362 with "Reach and Row for Hospice"in the memo line of checks. Photo by Dave Pitman, Olympic Aerial Solutions
