Boat Rides, Boat Parade and Bagpipes
Scheduled for Opening Day of Boating Season

Free rides on sailboats and cruisers, a boat parade and bagpipe music will be featured Sunday, May 1 when the Sequim Bay Yacht Club celebrates Opening Day of Boating Season at John Wayne Marina.

Rides on club members’ boats will depart from the rowing dock at the marina’s north end between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on a first come, first serve basis. Life jackets will be provided for adults and children.

At 2:30 p.m., the marina flagpole will be the site of a flag ceremony, blessing of the fleet, “Last Call” honors for SBYC members who have died in the past year, and special presentations. At 3 p.m. bagpiper Bob McMichael will play on Pitship Point as member boats parade in Sequim Bay, with Mud Bay and the point ideal viewing points from shore.

For those interested in learning more about yacht club programs, which include learn-to-sail and learn-to-row courses, social events and presentations open to the public, and an annual fundraising campaign for Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, club members---cruisers, sailors, rowers and social members---will host an open house from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the clubroom, north end of the marina building.
